should you be having meat & nuts for breakfast

Meat And Nut Diet

As the famous saying goes, breakfast is indeed the most important meal of the day. Unfortunately, a lot of people don’t realize that since it is the most important, it is actually even more important to have the proper food. What’s the proper food if you want more muscle and less fat? A high protein and high fat breakfast. Here are the top 3 reasons why you should try it.

The Meat

Due to its high protein content, meat creates a gradual blood sugar increase throughout the day. It is common knowledge by now that a diet higher in protein will leave you more full and satisfied than a diet high in carbs. Many articles have looked at this phenomenon and reported that people who had more protein in their diets had fewer hunger pangs, less fixation on food and had less late-night snacks.

The Fats

Healthy fats (contained in nuts and avocados) can help your body maintain the blood sugar levels stable for longer periods of time. In other words, this will help prevent that “high” that you get after a high carb meal, and instead keep you feeling better and more energized for a longer period of time.

A breakfast high in healthy fats will also help you get leaner. When your blood sugar goes up and comes crashing down, this is when your body stores the most fat. In a study reported in the journal Diabetes Care Journal, they also found that having nuts instead of a “protein whole-wheat muffin” resulted in much better LDL (the bad cholesterol) and healthier cholesterol levels. In other words, not only will you look better, your heart will also thank you.[

The Protein AND The Fats TOGETHER

What you have for breakfast will set up your entire neurotransmitters for the day. With the meat and nuts breakfast, your levels of dopamine and acetyl-choline will increase, which essentially means that you have more focus and drive. This won’t only help you perform in the gym, but even when you’re at the office working at your desk.

Meat And Nut Diet

Try alternating your protein and nuts sources for best results. It is easy to become intolerant to foods if you have them every day, so I try to change it up between salmon, steak, chicken, meat and even eggs. Change up the kinds of nuts also, and try to stay away from peanuts. If you’re in country that offers different types of meats like in Canada, try buffalo or wapiti meat for even more protein!
